Our 'ready 2 ship' products are exactly that - ready to ship to you immediately. There is a catch though - they are 'as is' - meaning there is no cutting and no choice in fabric base or scale - they are exactly what the product description says they are. You also cannot combine 'ready 2 ship' products with any other products (except sample packs).

Unless a product indicates it is a 'ready 2 ship' product it is classed as a pre-order product. All ready to ship products will have the words ready 2 ship in their product title.

Local pick up can be selected for these products but please note it will NOT be avialable until after 1 June.

Want to give the gift of wearable art? Look no further. Our gift vouchers are available in a variety of denominations and do not expire! You can also use multiple vouchers in one transaction and they can be used with other coupons, such as discounts and promotions. You can destash fabric you have brought from us through our Facebook Group and other destash sites. We do ask that you do not resell your fabric to third party fabric traders without discussing this with us first.

Would you like to promote your business to Material Difference customers? We are always developing and updating our Makers' Directory for lovers of our fabrics who can't sew, or who don't have time to sew, but still want something handmade.

All our designs featured on this website are licensed exclusively to Material Difference from the artists that created them. The artists retain the copyright to all designs and they cannot be recreated or used in the creation of products without the artist's permission. By purchasing Material Difference fabric you can be assured that you are purchasing a properly licensed product.

Once purchased through Material Difference, we allow you to use that fabric for commercial purposes with acknowledgement of the artist. If you would like to use images from our website in the promotion of your pre-orders or makes we ask that you use watermarked images where possible - we are happy to supply them to you.

Our Featured Artists also licence the designs featured on this site to Material Difference. You can rest assured that we have proper agreements in place and all our Featured Artsists.

We get it - it's hard to order fabrics when you can't touch and feel them. So, before you buy, why not grab a Material Difference Sampler pack and you can touch and feel all you like! 

You can order Sample Singles or a full Sample Pack.

Multiple scaling options are available on all designs - except for our block colours! In the product descriptions we have indicated how to measure our MINI, MIDI, MAXI and MEGA scales. We have chosen an element in each of our designs to use as your scale guide. The measurements in these product descriptions are estimates only and are to be used as a guide only. If you are confused or need help choosing your scale, we recommend either joining our Facebook group (a super helpful group!) or contacting us via email.

As all fabrics are printed to order, we place orders on the 1st of each month and sometimes we do a mid-month order on the 16th of the month. This means if you were to place an order on 5 February, for example, your order would be processed on the 1st March. All fabric is pre-ordered and has a shipping turnaround of 4-6 weeks from the date of us placing our order.

If we do a mid-month order we will elt you know via social media or through our newsletter - it is not a guarantee that a mid-month order will be done. 

Most of Material Difference fabrics are sold in half metre increments, which means any orders greater than 0.5 m will be cut in a continuous length. Some fabrics are only sold in 1 metre increments.

Please ensure you double (and then triple!) check your orders before purchasing. As all of our fabrics are printed to order, we unfortunately cannot process refunds or accept returns for any ordering errors or change of mind.

The printing of custom designed fabric is quite a complex process so you may come across a fault occasionally. Material Difference fabrics are checked multiple times throughout the process, but the odd fault may get missed. Please check your orders thoroughly when they arrive. You have 8 weeks from the date of delivery to you to report any fault in your fabric. If you do receive fabric that has a fault, please contact us at hello@materialdifference.com.au and we will be happy to discuss your options.

Yes – we DO offer a business wholesale rate. Please contact us at sales@materialdifference.com.au to discuss your needs. We are more than happy to help!

To make it simpler for everyone we offer 3 flat rate shipping rates to all locations within Australia.  These rates are detrmined by postcode and order size. For orders of 1m or less we offer $10 small package shipping. For metro east coast we offer $15 flat rate and for everywhere else it is $18 flat rate.

For international shipping we are currently only offering express shipping and those costs will be calculated at the checkout. We are hoping to offer other shipping methods shortly. 

Please note: it is your responsibility to get your shipping address and email correct. We do not check the details you enter unless an error occurs. Please check your details before ordering. If we have to redeliver a package due to incorrect shipping details, we will need to pass that additional cost on to you.
